Joburg 360 is seeking volunteers to join the Vilakazi Street clean-up and improvements initiative, dedicated to enhancing the cleanliness and overall condition of this iconic location. Vilakazi Street holds immense cultural significance as the former residence of Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu, and the site where Hector Pieterson was tragically shot.

Joburg 360's Goal

  • Enhancement: Address overgrown grass, weeds, broken bollards, and paving.

  • Maintenance: Preserve landmarks such as the Hector Pieterson Corner and Desmond Tutu’s former home.

  • Memorial: Maintain the Vilakazi Street sign language memorial and the 2 Bulls sculpture.

By focusing on these improvements, Joburg 360 aims to create a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming environment for locals and visitors alike, preserving the heritage and pride of Vilakazi Street.
